When her mother dies, Blanca has just turned forty. To escape her grief, she finds refuge in sex, with lovers, ex-husbands, and any other casual connection that makes her forget, even for a moment, that her mother is dead. Unable to sort out her adult life as an "orphan" in the city, and almost as if seeking further escape, Blanca decides to travel to her mother's house in the small fishing village of Cadaqués.
